Lord, I ask You today to reveal anything hidden in my life that is giving the enemy access. I don't want to carry secret things that break Your protection over me. Search me, know me, and show me whatever I need to deal with. I commit to being honest with You — and with myself. In Jesus' name, amen.
Key Verse: "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." — Psalm 139:23-24
Today's Truth: Hidden things in your life can break God's protection over you — but when you bring them into the light, His seal is restored.
Rebecca was baffled. Night after night, she anointed the house. She sealed it in prayer. She commanded demons to leave. Yet the attacks kept coming. Elaine would convulse. Annie would fall unconscious. Evil would sweep in as if there were no spiritual protection at all.
What was breaking the seal?
The answer was hidden under Annie's skin.
Push-pins — tiny metal pins inserted in satanic rituals, with demons assigned to them. One in her leg, one in her hand. Every time Annie walked out of the house and came back in, she was carrying those demonic attachments with her, breaking the spiritual seal Rebecca had placed over the home.
Annie knew about them. She just hadn't told anyone.
Her reason? Fear. She had been told the demons attached to the pins would kill her if she ever tried to remove them. So she said nothing. And night after night, the household suffered for what she kept hidden.
This story illustrates one of the most important spiritual principles you will encounter in this journey: hidden things give the enemy legal access to your life.
It doesn't matter how much you pray. It doesn't matter how faithfully you anoint your home, attend church, or read your Bible. If there are undealt-with attachments in your life — things you are hiding from God, from accountability, or from yourself — they become entry points for the enemy.
These hidden things can take many forms:
1. Secret Sin Sin you have refused to confess or repent of. Pornography. Dishonesty. Bitterness you've nursed for years. An emotional affair you've minimized. These are spiritual "push-pins" — they attach demons who have legal right to afflict you.
2. Occult Involvement Past or present involvement in any form of the occult — Ouija boards, tarot cards, horoscopes, psychics, mediums, witchcraft, Freemasonry, or any occult practice — opens demonic doors. Many Christians have done these things without realizing what they opened. These doors must be deliberately and specifically closed.
3. Generational Curses and Covenants Sometimes the hidden thing isn't something you did personally — it was done by your parents or grandparents. Occult covenants, bloodline curses, and generational sin patterns can give the enemy ongoing access to a family line until they are specifically broken in Jesus' name.
4. Ungodly Soul Ties Sexual immorality creates powerful soul ties — spiritual bonds between people. Even after a sinful relationship ends, those bonds remain until they are broken in prayer. They function like spiritual tethers that give the enemy a hold on your life.
5. Unhealed Trauma Extreme trauma — especially childhood abuse — can create spiritual wounds that demons exploit. This isn't about blame; it's about healing. The enemy doesn't fight fair. He targets wounds. Those wounds need to be brought to Jesus for healing.
Like Annie, many believers know about hidden things in their lives and say nothing. The reasons are almost always some combination of:
But the cost of silence is too high. Annie's hidden push-pins were putting everyone around her in danger, not just herself. In the same way, your hidden things don't just limit you — they affect the people closest to you: your spouse, your children, those you minister to.
The enemy is counting on your silence. He has told you that disclosure will cost you everything. He is lying. Disclosure costs you the chains. Silence keeps them on.
When Rebecca finally prayed over Annie's push-pins and asked God to remove them, it hurt. Annie cried out for her to stop. Rebecca held firm. And when it was over, the pins were gone — completely — and the attacks stopped.
God can remove things from your life that feel permanent, embedded, and terrifying. He can vaporize what you thought could never be removed. But you have to tell Him about it. You have to stop protecting it.
Elaine had also carried a push-pin for years. She had quietly asked God about it and He literally pushed it out through her skin. It hurt. But she was free.
Your path to freedom may hurt. But you will be free. And the people around you will be safer for it.
Take inventory: Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind any hidden thing in your life that may be giving the enemy access. Don't rush this. Sit quietly before God and let Him search you. Write down whatever He shows you.
Specifically confess: For each thing that comes to mind, bring it before God in specific confession. Don't speak in generalities. Name what it is, when it entered, and ask God to cleanse and seal that area of your life.
Deal with occult openings: If you have been involved in any occult activity — even things that seemed harmless like horoscopes, Ouija boards, or psychic readings — pray specifically to close those doors. Renounce them by name. Ask God to remove any demonic attachments associated with them.
Consider trusted accountability: Is there someone spiritually mature who you trust enough to confess a hidden thing to? James 5:16 promises healing when we confess to one another. You don't have to carry this alone.
Break ungodly soul ties: If you have had sexual relationships outside of marriage, pray specifically to break those soul ties. Ask God to cut every tie that was formed, reclaim every piece of yourself that was given away, and close every door that was opened through those relationships.
What you hide, the enemy uses. What you bring into the light, God heals.
Annie's push-pins lost all their power the moment they were exposed and surrendered to God. Your hidden things are the same. The enemy's greatest advantage is secrecy. Take that advantage away.
Father, I ask You to search me — completely, thoroughly, lovingly. Show me every hidden thing that is giving the enemy access to my life. I am not afraid of what You will find, because I know Your purpose is healing, not condemnation.
I confess to You now: [take a moment to name what the Holy Spirit brings to mind]. I bring these things out of hiding and into Your light. I ask You to cleanse me from them completely. Remove every demonic attachment. Break every curse. Close every door I have opened through ignorance or disobedience.
I thank You that Your blood covers every sin I confess. I thank You that there is no hidden thing You cannot heal. I am ready to be free.
In Jesus' name, amen.
Speak this out loud:
"I choose transparency before God today. I bring every hidden thing into the light of His presence. The enemy has no more advantage over me through secrecy. What I confess, God forgives. What I surrender, He cleanses. I am being sealed and protected by the blood of Jesus. There is no darkness in me that God's light cannot reach. I am free. In Jesus' name!"
